Thank You, Dale Tallon

The gift that keeps on giving. It’s funny how things worked out in the end. The Vegas Golden Knights are Stanley Cup champions and I think I can speak for all VGK supporters in saying — Thank you, Dale Tallon. I’m not sure the VGK win the cup without you.

The VGK beat the Panthers in the Finals which is the same team that gift-wrapped them Reilly Smith and Jonathan Marchessault during the expansion draft. The universe is really hilarious sometimes. Marchessault was left unprotected during the expansion draft by Florida in order to protect a couple of bum defensemen. The Panthers were also eager to rid themselves of Smith’s contract and Vegas took advantage of acquiring him for just a 4th-round pick.

Smith and Marchessault represent two of the six original misfits from the first iteration of the Golden Knights. No team in sports history has been over the first six years of existence than these Golden Knights and Tallon’s poor choices are a big reason why.

Can we get the old Panthers general manager a gift basket? Does the guy deserve a championship ring? The least we can do is offer him a thank you letter and this is my way of doing it. So thank you, Dale Tallon. This is one of the greatest days of my life and I think you for allowing it to happen. You will never be forgotten. Go Knights!
