Credit to Kirby Smart for understanding how bad his wide receiver room was last season and making the concerted effort to change that through the transfer portal. Just days after landing arguably the most dynamic wide receiver in the country, Zachariah Branch from USC, 247Sports.com is reporting that the Bulldogs have also landed Texas A&M’s Noah Thomas. Georgia’s efforts to elevate that room have certainly succeeded.
Noah Thomas was the Aggies’ best wide receiver last season, finishing with 39 receptions for 574 yards and eight touchdowns, all team highs. The 6’6, 200 lbs Thomas has struggled with injuries before this season, but was finally able to put it all together in 2024 and will look to capitalize on his final year of eligibility in 2025 for Georgia. He looks to change the ways of a struggling room for Georgia, which led all of FBS in drops last season. This played a large part in the Bulldogs scoring their lowest points per game total, 31.5, in five years. The additions of Thomas and Branch should be able to turn things around.
The drops were a massive issue for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs in 2024, which led to some concerns about Carson Beck, who will miss the College Football Playoff due to an elbow injury. We have to keep in mind about Beck, all the drops Georgia had. However, with Gunner Stockton likely starting in 2025, he will have a new bounty of weapons at his disposal. It will remain to be seen if this offense can get back to their prolific ways.
