It’s time to talk, Tetairoa McMillan. The discourse on the Arizona receiver has been all over the map. The goal today is to get to the truth while talking about everything you need to know about the player. Time is ticking, and I still have so many more of these to do, so let’s get right to it! Here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on McMillan!
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 3, Week 8
McMillan, just turned 22 at the start of April, was a four star recruit coming out of high school. He was also the number four receiver and third overall player in the state of California during that 2022 cycle. Evan Stewart, Luther Burden, and Chris Marshall (bust) were the three ranked ahead of him. McMillan was also a 3-sport athlete in high school, playing football, basketball, and volleyball.
The Arizona product has plenty of production. All of that stuff speaks for itself. His 702 receiving yards as a true freshman was the best mark in the country, and he made eight starts that year. The next two years are off the charts posting 1,402 yards and 1,319 yards respectively. That’s with 18 combined touchdowns over the last two years. It’s really incredibly hard to overthink this one when the raw numbers look like that. Not to mention that this past year he was listed as First-team Associated Press All-American and First-team All-Big 12 Conference.
The Waimanalo, Hawaii native did not workout at the Combine, which was disappointing. Mostly because his top end speed seems to be the biggest concern here. Then again, we know how the draft community gets this time of year. They get horny over 40-yard dash times and if you don’t meet that mark, you drop even though Anquan Bolden, Cooper Kupp, and Puka Nacua are examples diselling that math. McMillan did run a 4.48 at the Pro Day but we know those numbers are fluffed. Without any data, my guess is just eye balling it, he’s a 4.55 type of guy. Either way, it’s not a concern for me.
McMillan checks in at 6-foot-4, 219, and he uses that frame quite well. He’s not a guy who gets stuck in the mud either. His ADOT is 14 yards down the field and he’s actually really good at sinking his hips. Add in pretty insane ball skills and you start to imagine how the production was created. He also forced 29 missed tackles this past year and is actually fairly good at creating with the ball in his hands. 5.1 YAC per reception is a good number given who he is.
I’m going to say this, too. I don’t care what anybody says, his QB play stunk. I can’t imagine how good his numbers would have been if he had someone more capable at QB. Then again, he also played a lot of Big 12 games so maybe you can even some of that stuff out. There really aren’t a ton of negatives. His releases aren’t super explosive, and he relies on contested catches sometimes. Other than that, I’m just not sure what there is not to get on this one.
He’s way better than Drake London, and you’re drunk if you think otherwise. McMillan had a drop rate of just 4.94% over the last two years. He has that MFer, this ball is mine quality, while being physically imposing. There’s a fluidity and suddenness in his game that normally isn’t found with receivers of this size. The only thing I’ll say is his physicality is found more when guys try to tackle him rather than beating people up in press.
I have a first round grade on Tetairoa McMillan, and he’s easily the best receiver in this draft (if you’re excluding Travis Hunter). If you actually watched the games, you know this guy is the real deal and should project to be a high end outside receiver.
Comp = Less Gazelle Mike Evans.
