Terry Rozier made his debut for Miami yesterday after being traded to the Heat via Charlotte. It’s not really a secret how I feel about Rozier and his performance with Miami wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. The former Louisville product shot 3-11 while registering nine points, four rebounds, and five assists in 29 minutes against Memphis.
Prior to the game, Rozier gave his thoughts about joining the Heat. The new point guard in Miami believes that he fits Heat Culture.
VIA Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.
“It’s been no secret how much love I have for the Miami Heat and Dwyane Wade growing up,” Rozier said. “This is definitely a full circle moment. I’m happy to be back on that stage in a playoff race. It’s huge.”
“Definitely want to take my time. Things are not going to be perfect right away,” Rozier said. “I feel like I fit the Heat culture and I’m coming right in, can come in [and help] on the defensive side. We’re basketball players. We will figure it out.”
If Rozier wants to fit Heat Culture, he’s going to have to learn some self-awareness. Something he’s never had since entering the NBA. When you take more shots than Jimmy Butler in your debut performance while having no feel for what Erik Spoelstra wants, doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know?
The positive is that Rozier will likely be an upgrade over the dead dog, Kyle Lowry. This trade also lowered the Heat’s tax bill and more moves could be on the way.
