Quick! Name me at least one other wide receiver on the Washington Football Team, I’ll wait. Yep, that’s right, go google it and find a name. Unless you’re a WFT fan or very deep in NFL knowledge, you probably can’t name another Washington receiver off the top of your head. Terry McLaurin is the #1 honcho for Washington. There’s really nobody relevant for the team at wide receiver. Richard Sherman has acknowledged that. His full quote is below, provided by ProFootballTalk:
“If he had anybody else beside him and they couldn’t just double him and cloud him all the time, he’d be special,” Sherman said, via Zach Brook of 106.7 The Fan. “But that’s the hard thing — they can’t find anybody else. They’ve got a bunch of guys who kind of flash, but he plays hard.”
Terry McLaurin had 87 catches and 1,118 yards in his 2nd NFL season. In both of his NFL seasons, he had about 600 yards or more than the next guy. That is with not the best QB play in Washington either. Sure, the counter-argument is that he is the only one getting consistent targets. At the same time, that means most of the defenses that face Washington focus on him in the passing game.
Richard Sherman is right, Terry McLaurin and Washington need another decent WR. That will make Washington’s passing game and McLaurin that much more dangerous. Despite what the haters say, Scary Terry is a great WR who just needs help at WR and QB. The defense is young and improving at a rapid pace. If Washington can find help on the offensive side, they could make some noise in the NFC East.
