Tee Higgins requests trade from Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins has requested a trade away from the organization, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter first reported Monday.
Higgins was franchise-tagged by the team last week, but the two sides have apparently been unable to lock down a long-term extension that would keep Higgins in Cincinnati for the foreseeable future. This year’s wide receiver franchise tag was worth $21.8 million.
Higgins is arguably the best No. 2 wideout in football. He was limited to just 12 games last year due to injury, but underperformed (to his standard) when he was on the field. He had just 42 catches for 656 yards and five touchdowns–a season removed from his second consecutive 1,000-yard season, where he tied his career in catches (74) and setting his career high in touchdowns (7).
