No fancy intro for this one. There is no reason to beat around the bush so let’s just get right to the point here. I truly cannot fathom why teams continue to kick the ball to KaVontae Turpin.
Stop doing it.
Why do teams keep doing it?
I DON’T UNDERSTAND!!!
Let’s really set the stage here. Dan Quinn is now the head coach in Washington. He spent the prior three seasons in Dallas as the defensive coordinator. He saw KaVontae Turpin every single day in practice. Quinn decided to kick it to him anyway and suffered the consequences for it.
Turpin is truly remarkable. I don’t think another return guy who is playing in the league right now could do this. However, the point remains. If you’re playing Dallas (especially now given that Cooper Rush is the QB and they can’t score) why would you kick the ball to this guy? It’s totally insane but teams keep doing it anyway. When you’re playing Dallas, kick the ball through the back of the end zone every single time.
I still think Dallas should use Turpin more on offense in certain packages, but that’s a story for another day. If you’re in a fantasy league that counts return points, Turpin has become a guy that you have to consider adding to your roster.
Who knows what will happen with the kick off rules after this year but the only clear thing is that you should NEVER kick the ball to this guy. I mean never.
