Stephen A Smith Shows No Respect To Lightning McQueen

When you think of the greatest athletes of all time, you immediately think of guys like Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Michael Jordan, etc.

Vendetta actually did a roundtable about the most dominant athlete of all time, which you can read here. However, a caller on the Stephen A. Smith show called in and asked Smith his thoughts on famed racecar driver Lightning McQueen being the GOAT, and Smith did not hold back his thoughts.

Stephen A. Smith showed zero respect for the greatest driver in Piston Cup history. There has never been a hotter driver to start his career than Lightning McQueen. After making his debut in 2005, McQueen would go on to win the Piston Cup in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015. He even helped lead the pit crew for Cruz Ramirez in 2021 to capture another cup and also served as the backup car for Ramirez, during the season in which she won.

Smith argues that McQueen cannot be viewed as the GOAT as he is tied with Strip Weathers for most Piston Cup wins in history. But the numbers don’t lie, Weathers was never as dominant a driver as McQueen. McQueen leads with 90 career wins–far and away the most dominant driver in cup history.

The fact that Stephen A Smith showed no respect to Lightning McQueen shows just how out of touch Smith is with racing.

There has never been a more electrifying racer than McQueen, as he came in as the hotshot new car who helped elevate the sport into what it is today. McQueen walked so cars like Jackson Storm and Cruz Ramirez could run (or drive, I guess).

The Piston Cup series is in good hands with them in the future, but we cannot discredit the success and global impact McQueen had on the sport. To the caller from Wisconsin who brought this up, I salute you.
