Stefon Diggs to miss rest of 2024 with Torn ACL

Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs will miss the rest of the 2024 season with a torn ACL suffered Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter first reported Tuesday.

Diggs went down with a non-contact injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s game. He walked to the sidelines and directly under the medical tent under his own power, but was eventually ruled out with a knee injury. He finished with five catches for 81 yards.

Diggs, who turns 31-years-old in November, was acquired in early April from the Buffalo Bills (plus a 2024 6th, 2025 5th) in exchange for a 2025 second-rounder. He recorded at least five catches in all but one game. For the season, he’s totaled 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns–a 17-game pace of roughly 100 catches for 1,054 yards and six scores.

This is a very big blow for Houston, who is already down No. 1 wideout Nico Collins (for at least one more game). Next up on the Texans’ depth chart is Tank Dell, who’s caught 24 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns this season; succeeding him is John Metchie III and Xavier Hutchinson, among others.

It’s not going to be easy to replace that production. Could Houston be in the market for another receiver, such as Darius Slayton, Christian Kirk or Mike Williams? They have seven picks, including one fourth, two fifths and one seventh. They have one week before the Nov. 5 trade deadline with a game against the struggling Jets in Week 9.
