Stanford QB Ashton Daniels to Enter Transfer Portal

Another QB has hit the transfer portal as QB Ashton Daniels will be leaving Stanford. The Cardinals had a down year this year finishing with a 3-9 record. However, the poor season was not Daniels’ fault as he led Standard in passing and rushing yards. Daniels ended with 1700 passing yards, 669 rushing yards, and 13 total touchdowns. Now, the QB will look for a change of scenery after spending his three collegiate years at Stanford.

Ashton Daniels had a better 2023 season throwing for 2,247 yards and 11 touchdowns. However, this season he established himself as a serious dual-threat QB. This will open the door for more offenses and schemes that could support his play style. He should receive interest even though he is not a marquee name on the transfer market. However, he is a top 20 quarterback in the 2025 transfer portal class according to 247 Sports.

Ashton Daniels should have put enough on tape at Stanford to receive interest from other Power 4 schools. But, he will likely have to transfer to one of the less competitive schools in the ACC or Big Ten. Alternatively, if he chooses to transfer to a non-power 4 school he should receive a lot of attention in the portal. Daniels will need to cut down on the interceptions that have plagued him the last two seasons. However, he has the talent and experience to find a new home and have a positive impact on a new program.
