Did you know that John Cena has had a WWE match every year for the past 20 years… except this one. Well, don’t worry, we still got some time to see him!
Tonight’s SmackDown emanates from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, and will see the 16-time World Champion return to action for the first time in almost 16 months. Cena will team up with “longtime friend” Kevin Owens to face his (Owens’) former best friend, Sami Zayn, and the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.
It won’t be an exaggeration to say that this might be the most anticipated SmackDown main event in quite some time. As for predictions, this one seems like a coin toss. But hey, that only adds to the excitement. WWE can go in a lot of creative directions with this one, but in my personal opinion, Cena and Owens should go over here. Believe it or not, John Cena hasn’t had a TV/PPV/PLE win since 2019! That’s really not a good look for a 16-time World Champion; Ric Flair has a better record for heaven’s sake!
Ronda Rousey has been especially “Rowdy” of late. Over the past few weeks, Rousey and Shayna Baszler have repeatedly used the numbers advantage to torment Raquel Rodriguez. She will now challenge Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on tonight’s show.
With most of the focus on John Cena’s return, tonight does not seem to be right time for Rodriguez’s crowning moment. Expect her injury woes and a certain Submission Magician to play a part in this match, probably setting up a rematch at Royal Rumble. Rousey to retain here.
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, Sheamus is slated to go one-on-one with Solo Sikoa.
