SimBull 2021 CFB Full Team Breakdown: Stanford University

Welcome to Vendetta’s SimBull CFB full team breakdowns, where the writers from Vendetta Sports Media will be analyzing all the Power 5 college football programs for their share value on SimBull and next up is Stanford University. Check out the last breakdown here.

2020 Record: 4-2 (4-2 Pac 12)

2021 Projected Win Total (via MGM): O/U 4

On The Field

Stanford has jumped out to a 2-1 record to start the season with wins over #14 USC and Vanderbilt. 2021 is off to a much better start than 2020 as the Cardinal started 0-2 only to win their last four games. The only win that has any weight to it is against USC and Stanford won pretty handily. Tanner McKee is playing great football completing over 70% of his passes for 570 yards, five touchdowns, and most importantly, no interceptions. David Shaw has run a competitive program at Stanford but since Andrew Luck, they can never seem to get the quarterback right.

They have two huge games coming up that could bode well for their bowl chances. In back-to-back weeks Stanford will play #24 UCLA and #3 Oregon. While I think they could upset UCLA, the Oregon game could be a long Saturday for Stanford.

In The Market

Stanford’s SimBull share price sits at $32.96, Arizona, Cal Berkley, CU Boulder, Oregon State, and Washington State are the only Pac-12 teams that are cheaper than Stanford. While I think there is some value in SimStan, I need to see how they fare in their next two games. UCLA beat LSU in week one and Oregon went to Colombus and beat Ohio State, these are two legit matchups for the Cardinal. If they can make it past this two-game stretch going 1-1 then they should be on their way to crushing this projected total. After Oregon and UCLA, Stanford plays Oregon State, Arizona, and Cal as well as some other lower-level Pac-12 teams.

They finish the season with Notre Dame who has not looked like the Fighting Irish we are used to seeing. Stanford could be a late-season buy depending on how these next two weeks go.
