Shedeur Sanders on being drafted to Titans No. 1 overall: ‘I’d love it’

The East-West Shrine Bowl is this week! We are two days into practices with the game expected to be on Thursday, Jan. 30. If you want the best coverage available for not only the Shrine Bowl, but for the entire NFL Draft, just check out each of Trey’s practice notes from the first two days plus his stock notes from the 2024 season and upcoming player profiles. It’s 1000 percent worth it, trust me.

One player who’s not partaking in the practices or games this week is highly-touted quarterback prospect Shedeur Sanders. Though he has made himself available to teams, including the Tennessee Titans, who own the No. 1 overall pick ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

“I came here for a purpose, and for a reason – to meet with the teams so they can understand me, and know me,” Sanders said, according to the team website. “All the conversations have been positive; everything has been good. They are surprised when they are finally able to meet me, and it’s not what the media portrays it to be.

“It was truly exciting that I was able get in and meet everybody (with the Titans) and they were able to ask questions and understand me.”

When asked about potentially being drafted No. 1 overall, Sanders took the liking to Tennessee, who’s coming off a disastrous three-win season under first-year head coach Brian Callahan.

“I’d love it. I would be thankful,” he said. “I know the city, and I’ve heard a lot of great things about the city. … And, I obviously see a lot of great things about their fan base. So, I know it’s real fun there.”

The Colorado alum is expected to be one of the best players in the class regardless of position–along with Heisman Trophy winner and Colorado teammate Travis Hunter, Penn State’s Abdul Carter, Miami’s Cam Ward and Michigan’s Mason Graham and Will Johnson.

Titans president Chad Brinker revealed this week that he’s not passing on the “generational talent” with the top pick. Whether that’s Hunter, Carter–or even Sanders–is a loaded question in it of itself. Tennessee has needs everywhere, so we won’t get a better idea of the blue-chipper they’re targeting until the weeks leading up to the draft assuming the pick isn’t traded.

Do you think that Sanders should be this year’s top selection? Let us know in the comments!
