Shaboozey Isn’t Headlining the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee Halftime Show
Looks like Yahoo Sports might have gotten got. Shaboozey is most definitely not going to be the featured artist at the Scripps National Spelling Bee halftime show in May.
There’s a lot to unpack here. How did they fall for this? The Scripps National Spelling Bee has a halftime show? I’m not sure how there can be a scheduled halftime event for a competition that doesn’t have a clock and ran so long in 2019 that the organizers just gave up and had eight kids share the championship. Side note, that’s pretty Mickey Mouse if you ask me. What, you just ran out of words? Make those kids earn that scholarship money! The mental fog setting in as kids continue to spell words at 4:25 AM would get you a champion real quick.
Naturally, the selection for who would perform at this 100th Anniversary celebration of 8-15 year-old erudition is Shaboozey, an artist whose only most well-known song features the following lyrics:
“Woke up drunk at 10 AM, we gon’ do this s*** again.”
Fantastic! I can’t think of a better way to take a break from watching the future of our nation flex their mental acuity and compete for scholarships than some guy singing about getting blasted on Jack Daniels. Come to think of it, maybe they aren’t going far enough. The Scripps National Spelling Bee presented by Jack Daniels? Makes perfect sense to me!
2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee Broadcast Details
The Scripps National Spelling Bee will take place May 27-29, 2025. Broadcast details will be released closer to the event.
