Legendary future Hall of Fame offensive tackle Jason Peters has signed to his 5th NFL team for added depth to an injury-riddled Seattle Seahawks, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. Rapoport reported Monday that Peters was planning to visit the squad Tuesday with real interest after its disappointing loss Sunday.

Left tackle Charles Cross suffered turf toe in the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams with no current timetable for his return. The Seahawks were obliterated by the Los Angeles Rams in a 30-13 loss at home, and now their No. 9 pick in the 2022 draft has gone down.
“That was a really frustrating start for us, the Rams did really well today. We’ve got a lot of work to do,” head coach Pete Carroll said after the loss on Sunday. “Charles hurt his toe, and he’s a big man, so we’ve got to see how he takes to that during the week. We won’t know for a while.”
Luckily, Jason Peters has been in the league an extremely long time, and Father Time can’t seem to catch up to him.
The 41-year-old–who has played in 238 career games (219 starts)–is a two-time First Team All-Pro, a four-time Second Team All-Pro, a nine-time Pro Bowler and in his last fully healthy season (2021), he allowed just six sacks in 853 snaps. He’s also a Super Bowl champion.
Originally an undrafted free agent who signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2004, Peters has carved out an incredible career with the Bills, Eagles, Bears and, most recently, the Cowboys. The Seahawks will take on the Detroit Lions in Week 2.
