Scump Announces Retirement from Call of Duty League
Popular Call of Duty League player Seth Abner, otherwise known as Scump or Scumperjumper, has officially retired from the league. Scump, an esports icon who’s been competing for over 14 years, winning numerous tournaments and awards, announced his retirement over Twitter in October of 2022.
Scump Wants to Move on to Content Creation
In another tweet posted on Jan. 17, Abner appears in an emotional video where he makes his official announcement to move onto content creation. Scump explains that he found doing both competition and content creation at the same time difficult, and that he wanted to move onto content creation only.
“Content on top of competing is really hard, just cause of how high the competition is,” Scump said.
Abner then gives his thanks to friends, teammates, and fans for their support over the years. Pledging his continued support to fans and teammates.
“I’ll be attending events still and meeting people,” Scump said. “Which I really couldn’t do being a player, cause obviously COVID. So now I’m gonna be, obviously, meeting people.”
Next Steps
While Scump’s plans revolve around content creation, specifics are still unknown. Whether it be more Call of Duty based content like on his YouTube channel, content from other games, or even taking a step back from video games altogether. Only time will tell.
Lasting Legacy
Regardless of his next steps however, Abner has left behind an incredible legacy. Having won the Call of Duty World League with OpTic in 2017, two Major League Gaming X Games gold medals in 2014 and 2015, and millions of dollars in prize money.
