Scott Hanson announces he’s returning to NFL RedZone

After some doubt about whether or not his contract would be renewed, Scott Hanson will be returning to NFL RedZone for a 17th straight season, he announced Friday.

It was reported in mid-February that he was still in negotiations to return to the program, but those reportedly stalled out. He labeled some of those reports “some inaccurate, some semi-accurate” in late February, as he was also contemplating a full-time role with NBC Sports after his Gold Zone program during the 2024 Olympics was a smashing success.

“All I can share with you is negotiations are ongoing,” Hanson told Yahoo Sports in February. “The NFL has told me they want me back. I certainly want to be back as host of RedZone, 16 seasons of what’s been called the greatest football show there is. We have to come to an agreement and we’re not there yet, but negotiations are ongoing and I’m very hopeful.”

Hanson will still be with NBC Sports for Gold Zone during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, adding more comprehensive coverage that you can’t find anywhere else.

NFL RedZone has existed since 2009, giving several football fans nationwide seven hours of commercial-free football, showing every scoring play from each Sunday’s action-packed slate. If you don’t have NFL Sunday Ticket, you can’t go wrong with NFL RedZone. Hanson’s energy and enthusiasm for the full seven hours are noteworthy, too.

It is still unknown how long his contract is, but what we do know is that the NFL’s beloved host isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
