Shades of Quentin Johnston or something completely different? We’re here to get to the truth with these 2025 NFL Draft profiles. If you want nonsense, feel free to read someone else because you won’t have a hard time finding the same trash out there recycled over and over again. Without further ado, let’s diagnose what TCU wide out Savion Williams brings to the table.
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 3
Williams, 23, was a four star recruit during the 2020 cycle. That includes being ranked as the 29th receiver and number 27 overall player in the state of Texas. The redshirt senior spent all five seasons with the Horned Frogs.
If you read the stock report notes at the top, it’s from the UCF game, where he made some of the best catches I’ve made all year. Make sure to check that out on your own, but it’s the start of what made me buy in here. We’re talking about a guy who is like a Brock Holt in football. He can play running back and receiver. This past year for TCU, Williams had 51 carries for 322 yards and six rushing touchdowns. He takes real Wildcat snaps.
The first two years, Williams was pretty much a non-factor. The next two years, he had four receiving touchdowns each. It was 2024 when he really broke out, posting 60 receptions for 611 yards and six scores. It’s not exactly a guady statline, but he’s also sort of lining up all over the place.
Had a pretty solid Combine showing. 4.48 speed works when you check in at 6-foot-4, 222, and has real short area burst. Williams is a bit high cut, but I think he has real receiver stuff to his game while being a functional gadget who can really play running back. Has some strength, with some ridiculous contested catches against UCF, will provide all you need to see.
The problem is that a 10.4% drop rate just isn’t good enough, and we don’t have enough evidence that he’s actually consistently good against bad defenses. The thing is, all of these guys have flaws, and at least Williams is someone who is unique and will provide you with a useful skillset.
I say this very nervously, but I think this is the highest I’ve been on a TCU wide receiver in a long time. If you read this site, you know I didn’t like Reagor, and I didn’t like Johnston either. I see Savion Williams as a middle round pick who can be a better wide receiver version of Cordarrelle Patterson without the high-end kick return stuff.
