Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has been chosen for the cover athlete of the new Madden 26, they announced Monday!
It’s already available for pre-order for the release day of Aug. 8, 2025. It’s not shocking that Barkley was chosen as the cover athlete. Barkley was a finalist for MVP this past year, and was the only non-QB finalist in the list for the year.
On top of that, the incredible highlight of him hurdling someone BACKWARDS? Forget about it. Saquon was the clear choice for the honor.
This is the 7th time that the cover has been a RB. This really has been the only time there has been a real action shot as the cover. In Madden 16 and Madden 17, Odell Beckham Jr. looks like he is trying to catch a ball and Gronk looks like he is spiking a ball but that’s about it.
EA Sports is trending towards more realistic covers instead of an animated graphic. However, this one with Saquon Barkley has been by far the coolest cover they have had.
I hope that EA Sports continues to find highlights of future cover athletes and tries to include them in the cover in future years. But, to luck out with an MVP finalist and Super Bowl winner in Saquon Barkley to have such a memorable highlight is insane and likely might not happen ever again.
Even if they do, can any cover be cooler than this one? I sincerely doubt it. Like, 99 percent doubt it. Even if they do something even better than this in future years, this should be 2nd on everyone’s list.
What do you think? Is this the coolest Madden cover yet? Will anything top it? Let us know in the comments.
