Saints Add Clyde Edwards-Helaire To Practice Squad

It turns out this isn’t the end for Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Chiefs finally parted ways with CEH and it didn’t take him long to find another home. The veteran running back is returning to the neck of the woods where he started to make a name for himself at LSU.

Edwards-Helaire, 25, has signed with the Saints and will join their practice squad.

Before we close, let me leave you with a few thoughts to ponder.

Who knows how much the LSU factor weighed in here? It certainly may have been considering he was born in Baton Rouge. One thing that can’t be forgotten here is that Kamara tweaked his groin last week. It’s very possible his season is cooked given where the Saints are in the standings. Why not give CEH a run here to see what you have if he can be a possible option in 2025?

Right now it’s Kamara and only Kendre Miller behind him. Miller has had his fair share of injuries and hasn’t really proven anything either. The good news is while it feels like the guy has been around forever, CEH is still fairly young and maybe needed a change of scenery.

The positive aspect about joining the practice squad here is that he can still be signed by a contender onto the active roster if an injury happens here down the stretch. The Saints season is over so it’s possible he changes locations once again before the 2024-25 campaign ends.
