‘Rulers of England’ Pack to be Last Civilization 6 DLC
Firaxis Games’ final expansion for Sid Meyer’s Civilization 6 is set to release on March 29. Rulers of England will be the final capstone in the game’s history of expansions and additional content. It will also be the first step towards Civilization 7, if, or when, that releases.
What’s Included
Rulers of England is the sixth and final release of Civ 6’s Leader Pass. It promises to bring new leaders and new leader “personalities,” which is similar to other Leader Passes that have been previously released. The specific abilities that each leader will have won’t be revealed until March 28, but considering past DLCs, they will likely be quite game changing.
But for those who are just too excited for the specifics, the leaders’ abilities, playstyle, and strategies, will be shown off on the Civilization YouTube channel, with developers and community guests revealing it all.
The Future of Civilization and Civilization 7
Since Civ 6’s release in 2016 and the many DLCs released after the fact, there has been little talk regarding the development of a sequel. While the success of Civ 6 has ensured that any future sequels are pretty much guaranteed, nothing is for certain.
Even without an official word regarding a sequel, the success of Civ 6 and most of its DLC have helped to ensure the continued growth of the Civilization franchise. Considering that Civilization defines the 4X genre in the way that James Bond defines spy movies, there’s little doubt new iterations of the game will be produced. The health of the franchise is paramount to Firaxis and publisher 2K Games.
Regardless, for fans of the Civilization franchise like myself, the Leader Passes are a nice send-off for the game, especially when considering that these passes are free — provided you paid for all the rest of the DLC, of course.
