Did Roquan Smith have something to do with the Ravens going out and signing Eddie Jackson? You bet your ass he did. The two played together with the Chicago Bears and will now be reunited in Baltimore.
Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta simply replied “Yes” when asked if Roquan had anything to do with the Jackson signing.
The former Georgia linebacker shared his thoughts on Jackson and why he advocated for him.
“I always tell the truth,” Smith continued. “I have great respect for Eddie and [I’ve] known Eddie since I came into the league. Like I said earlier, I think he’s a great asset for our team. [He’s] obviously been making plays in this league for a very long time, and with the pieces that we have here, and then with his talent, and having him in his role, I think it will go well for us.”
“I’m very happy to have Eddie here,” Smith said. “He’ll be a great asset to our team. [He has] a lot of playmaking ability; he’s proved it before, so I think with the group of guys that we already have here, him coming along, it will be really good for him and then really good for us as well.”
I would guess this goes pretty well for Baltimore. I’m surprised Jackson was available on the market for as long as he was. The former Alabama defensive back is a bit of a ballhawk and has 15 career interceptions at the NFL level. The Ravens also lost Geno Stone this offseason and Jackson should be able to step into that role that was vacated.
