Ron Harper Blasts Adrian Wojnarowski For Revealing Dylan Harper’s Commitment

Former NBA player and five-time champion Ron Harper was very upset over Adrian Wojnarowski’s post about his son, Dylan Harper, committing to Rutgers before Dylan and his family were able to break the news.

Wojnarowski broke the news on X right before Dylan was able to at a ceremony at the Fanatics headquarters Wednesday.

As you can see from the post, Wojnarowksi was told the news and knowingly revealed it before the event. This is where the problem began and it infuriated Ron Harper, who had some words for Wojnarowski on X.

He then added to his frustration by replying to another user who agreed that what Wojnarowski did was wrong.

Dylan’s older brother, Ron Harper Jr., who’s on a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors, expressed his opinion as well.

Although I understand the family’s frustrations, I don’t think this is how they should go about it. Saying “I will catch up with you one day I promise” and “I will see him soon” on the internet probably isn’t the best course of action. While he doesn’t make a direct threat, he is insinuating that something could happen if they run into each other.

The problem is that this is Wojnarowski’s job. There is an entire interview with ESPN where Dylan went into detail about his excitement to attend Rutgers and why he decided to go there. If there was a written agreement stating that Wojnarowksi couldn’t reveal this until after the ceremony, then Harper and the family could have a case.

However, I don’t think there was and it is just an unfortunate situation for the family.

Problems like this between the media and players have been happening for a long time. Everyone in the media wants to be first and this is one of those cases. While Wojnarowski likely didn’t do anything wrong legally, the family has a right to believe that what he did was ethically wrong.
