RIP Vice Media
RIP Vice Media. Another high-profile sports media brand is going down the toilet. Last May, the company filed for bankruptcy. Today, the brand announced that they will no longer publish on the Vice website. A lot of people are being laid off and the Vice website will cease to exist shortly.
Will Sommer of The Washington Post revealed the official internal memo that was sent out by Vice.
There is really only one line that you need to see.
“we will no longer publish content on vice.com,”
Keep in mind, ESPN parent Disney invested $400 million in Vice less than two years ago. They still went under.
I don’t know who needs to hear this but the rest of you continue to be delusional. Can we finally have a real conversation here? This is a dying industry and very few people are actually worth their paycheck. That’s the truth. You can either recognize that or work harder.
If Sports Illustrated is going under, nobody is safe. They won’t be the last either.
You know what’s funny? Another media company is dying and Trey is still here grinding his balls off. Trey is still here lowkey thriving while the rest of you continue the same cookie-cutter formula that doesn’t work. Then I’m called the bad guy. I’ll take being the bad guy if it means I’m still here and you’re not. Don’t know what you want me to say other than the fact that I told you so. Wait til you see what I have up my sleeve the rest of the year.
