Red Sox Sign Rookie Kristian Campbell to Eight-Year, $60M Extension

Just days into his MLB career, the Boston Red Sox have signed rookie Kristian Campbell to an eight-year extension. The new deal extends through the 2032 MLB season and contains club options for 2033 and 2034.

Per ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the deal is reportedly worth $60 million. MassLive’s Chris Cotillo posted the specific financial breakdown of the contract. The final four years come with escalators based on Campbell’s performance.

Per source: 2031 and 2032 base salaries and the 2033 and 2034 Club Options base salaries can increase based on the following criteria in the immediately preceding season (max 2m escalation per season):

Campbell, 22, has had a meteoric rise through the Red Sox farm system since he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft. Now the No. 6 prospect on MLB Pipeline, the Georgia Tech product made the major league roster ahead of the 2025 season and was Boston’s starting second baseman on Opening Day. Early returns have been excellent (despite some early overreactions). In his first four games, Kristian Campbell has six hits, including a 431-foot blast for his first career home run.

Campbell is Boston’s second big extension of the week after the Red Sox locked up ace Garrett Crochet with a six-year, $170 million deal. With these extensions, and top prospects Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer knocking on the door of the major leagues, the Red Sox are laying a strong foundation for the future.
