Under Maintenance
We deeply apologize for interrupting your reading but Vendetta is currently undergoing some important maintenance! You may experience some layout shifts, slow loading times and dififculties in navigating.
If you work for the Red Sox. You have two options:
Be a yes man to Craig Breslow and lie your face off. Similar to what that pathetic human being Connor Rogers does on a daily basis. I’m not sure how that guy sleeps at night or lives with himself, but plenty of people take the path of least resistance.
OR…
You do what Carl Moesche did. A man with real courage who did the right thing and spoke out against the man-child who is running the team into the ground.
Moesche, the Red Sox scouting supervisor and team employee since 2017, was relieved of his duties after a hot mic incident went wrong.
Joon Lee, formerly of ESPN and now at Yahoo Sports, had some juicy details to share in his latest column.
Check this cheese out:
“Meanwhile, Breslow has grown increasingly insulated. Multiple sources within the organization describe a front office losing cohesion. Staffers who helped build four championship teams — veterans of the Theo Epstein, Ben Cherington, Dave Dombrowski and Bloom regimes — now feel shut out of the operation. The collaborative spirit that once defined Red Sox baseball operations has frayed.”
“The discontent intensified in May 2024, when Breslow brought in sports consulting firm Sportsology to conduct an organizational audit. The stated purpose was to streamline baseball operations. In practice, it triggered a wave of firings and accelerated the marginalization of some of the longest-tenured voices in the building, characterizing the cultural shift to align more with Wall Street efficiency.”
“One of the clearest signals came during an internal team Zoom meeting earlier this season. Toward the end, Carl Moesche — the Red Sox’s scouting supervisor and a team employee since 2017 — thought the call had ended. It hadn’t. As the meeting wrapped, his voice cut through a quiet moment.”
“Thanks, Bres, you f***ing stiff,” Moesche said, according to two team sources.
“The words landed like a grenade, and Breslow fired Moesche.”
I’m not sure how much I want to advertise this part yet, but for the sake of telling the truth, I’ll share this last nugget before I close things out.
I went through the back channels and got Moesche’s number. I personally reached out to him to see if he wanted to tell his side of the story. No comment back yet, but if that interview does happen, I’ll get it to you in the most Trey way possible.
I’m only mentioning that part for one reason. What’s going on with the Red Sox right now is so disgusting on every level imaginable. Someone other than myself needs to speak out about what’s going on. Hopefully, we can have Moesche on Vendetta programming so the truth is revealed. TBD on that part, though.
