Ravens Suspend Diontae Johnson For Refusing To Play Vs. Eagles

The Ravens planned for Diontae Johnson to have a small role after the team acquired him via trade from the Carolina Panthers. He’s apparently not happy about it except for the part where he threw a temper tantrum after the team actually tried to play him. Johnson refused to enter the game against the Eagles and now Baltimore is suspending him for it.

“We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team,” Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said in a release. “Diontae’s suspension stems from refusing to enter our game against the Philadelphia Eagles.”

Fantasy Football: Ravens Acquire Diontae Johnson

Johnson, 28, was not targeted in his Ravens debut. He caught one pass for 6 yards in his second game and has not caught a pass since. In a classic delulu move, Johnson is not happy about it so he’s refusing to play. He does get that his only chance to produce is to be on the field but he won’t do that either.

His career his shot. The days of him being a legitimate fantasy option are over. That much is clear. Also, Baltimore has no reason to cut him because he will count in the compensatory pool for the offseason. If the Ravens are smart, they will just promote Tylan Wallace and make him the tertiary wide receiver. He probably deserves more of a chance beyond his return duties right now as it is. Zay Flowers is the dawg in this pass catching room regardless of whether Johnson wants to act like a bum or not.
