Lamar Jackson is really good at getting his way, I guess. Well, other than when he requested a trade, which somehow people have forgotten about. It’s all good, though, because Lamar wanted the Ravens to sign Jaire Alexander, and that’s exactly what happened.
The Packers released Alexander a little more than a week ago. Lamar clamored for him to join the Ravens online, and the club made it happen.
We didn’t even get a news report on this one. Just a baller move by the team, I won’t lie.
Again, I can’t stress this part enough. Elite move by the team to get this contract signed and this stuff sent out online before the reporters even got their hands on it. Tells you how strong the front office is in Baltimore.
The contract details have since emerged. The long time Packers cornerback will sign a one year deal worth $4 million, but there are $2 million in additional incentives that can be earned.
Time will tell if Alexander can play like his old self. The part that really shouldn’t be surprising is the fact that Baltimore was the team that ended up signing him. Lamar and Jaire both played together at Louisville, which certainly went a long way in the recruiting process.
If Alexander does have anything left, this secondary in Baltimore is stupid loaded. The team also wisely drafted Malaki Starks in the draft to even further bolster that unit.
Don’t worry… the Packers have a plan to replace Alexander! It includes playing wide receiver Bo Melton at cornerback! That, somehow, is not a joke.
