It turns out that Mike Macdonald is a liar. Oh, sorry, I’m talking about the part where the Seahawks head coach claimed that Seattle could win a Super Bowl with Geno Smith.
Do you really trade a quarterback you can win a Super Bowl with for a third round pick?
Of course not, but that’s what happened today. The truth is Geno Smith sucks and the Raiders somehow got conned again.
Las Vegas is acquiring the former West Virginia product in exchange for a third round pick.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was the first to report the news:
The expectation is that Seattle will pursue Sam Darnold or another possible option. Sam Howell is also there as an incumbent. They also have more picks after this deal to pursue one in the upcoming draft too. Either way, it’s clear that Seattle couldn’t come to terms on a next extension for Geno and parted ways instead.
Smith, 34, threw 21 touchdowns and 15 interceptions last year. He completed over 70% of his passes but he also sucks ass so there’s that.
If you’re a Raiders fan, I’m not sure how you’re not concerned. If this is really what Tom Brady has up his sleeves, this franchise is so screwed. Overpay for Gardner Minshew, cut one year later. The same thing is going to happen here. I get the Pete Carroll connection but giving up a premium pick so that you can possibly lock yourself into this is as dumb as it gets.
