I don’t really like to put stamps like this on guys for fantasy football. I’ll happily predict breakout seasons or slumps, but a league winner is a big prediction, saved for someone you’re super confident in. As you can tell by the title, I’m ready to throw out my first league winner: Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White will win you your fantasy league in 2023, heed the message.
The biggest thing White has going for him in 2023 is his receiving skill. He caught 50 passes on 58 targets in 2022, 11th in the league. But White only started eight games, and the man in front of him both in the depth chart and in receptions last year, Leonard Fournette, is gone. Expect White to see a major uptick in targets. He played more than 50 percent of snaps just four times last year. With no real competition in that running back room, the starting job is his.
Another thing going for White is the Buccaneers brought in a new offensive coordinator Dave Canales, who will look to run the ball more than Byron Leftwich did. This could lead to White being the first 1,000-yard rusher for the Bucs since Doug Martin back in 2015. Tampa finished last in the league in rushing in 2022, that won’t be the case in 2023.
Rachaad White finished with 771 yards from scrimmage on 179 touches in 2022, finishing as RB42. He currently sits at RB28, with an ADP of 71.1. White is going to blow that out of the water. I can see a scenario where White finishes with over 1,200 yards from scrimmage and double-digit touchdowns. Whoever is starting at Quarterback is going to check down to White a ton, so don’t be shocked when White finishes in the top 10 for fantasy running backs.
I traded for him in my dynasty league, and I will find a way to get him on any redraft leagues I do.
