Quincy Roche 2021 NFL Draft Profile

You want to talk about a sleeper in the 2021 NFL Draft? Quincy Roche might be your man. Roche might be the third Miami edge rusher taken in the draft. BUT… he also might be lowkey the best one they have. SHHHH. Could Roche be the diamond in the rough this year? Let’s take a look at the Quincy Roche 2021 NFL Draft profile!

Roche wasn’t a big time recruit. He was just a three star recruit in the Maryland area. Roche stands at 6-foot-3, 245 and is the prototypical size to play that 3-4 edge. Roche has over 32 inch arms as well.

Roche went to Temple originally signing with Matt Rhule. He posted a really great and underrated career. As a junior, Roche was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Conference. His 13 sacks that year ranked 8th in the FBS. In three years at Temple, Roche posted 39.5 tackles for loss and 26 sacks.

The former Temple product eventually hit the transfer portal and chose Miami. With Gregory Rousseau opting out, Roche had a chance to step right in and start opposite of Jaelan Phillips. In 10 games, Roche posted 4.5 sacks to round out his college career. He also got an invite to the Senior Bowl and had an excellent showing there as well.

Now let’s actually get down to business. Our very own Cayne Lander posted an article I 100 percent agree with. Phillips gives off massive Dion Jordan vibes. Scouts have fallen in love because Phillips has a quick first and is bendy. He just never kicks anybody’s ass. Roche is the antithesis of Phillips.

No, Roche isn’t super bendy. No, Roche isn’t a super elite athlete. All I know is that he’s powerful, has great hand technique, works his tail off, and brings it on every snap. There’s something to be said for the way Roche kicks your ass. He’s powerful and throws you out the club. He’s got a sweet rip move too.

Roche also has a knack for the ball. He has seven career pass deflections while playing the defensive line. He’s also forced eight career fumbles. Those guys like that don’t grow on trees. The guy is just a menace. I don’t know how you describe him other than a hell of a football player.

Quincy Roche is one of my favorite players in the entire 2021 NFL Draft. He’s one of those guys that will go in the 5th round or so but make your team and force his way into the rotation. Roche should be able to carve out a niche with the chance to develop into more.
