PSG To Sign Brazilian Wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo

The race to sign the highly-coveted Brazilian youngster Gabriel Moscardo appears to be over with PSG apparently coming out on top. According to Fabrizio Romano, the French giants have agreed to a €20 million fee with Moscardo’s current club Corinthians plus €2 million in add-ons.

Moscardo had just recently been promoted to the Corinthians first team. The 18-year-old made 25 appearances for the Brazilian club this season, recording one goal and one assist; 18 of these appearances came in the Brazilian league as Moscardo helped his club finish in 13th place and qualify for the Copa Sudamericana group stage.

He has also recently been capped by the Brazilian U23 National Team and looks to be a fixture in that squad ahead of the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament in January 2024.

It was widely expected that Moscardo would be heading to Chelsea, with ESPN reporting that a $22 million fee for the midfielder was rejected last summer. However, Moscardo decided that he did not see himself playing at Stamford Bridge and decided to wait for other offers.

“There was a proposal from Chelsea months ago, but I talk a lot with my agent and my parents and they try to give me information,” Moscardo said. “They say there is not long until the end of the season, they tell me to dedicate myself and do well, and that at the end of the season, there will be good things.”

Along with PSG and Chelsea, other European sides such as Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United and Atlético Madrid were also interested in the young Brazilian. None of these sides made an official offer, however.

Moscardo will now join a PSG side rebuilding under new manager Luis Enrique. The French giants are currently in first in the league, five points clear of second-place Nice as Ligue 1 nears the halfway point of the season.
