The Charlotte Hornets have one of the most interesting and best young cores in the league, and they just sealed the deal even more today. Charlotte signed power forward PJ Washington to a three-year extension after four years with the squad. Washington, a 6’7 forward out of Kentucky, put up career high numbers last season for the Hornets. Posting 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists on 44.4% from the field. Washington is a workhorse for the Hornets. Playing and starting 73 games last season for the squad, the most in his young career.
Charlotte has struggled the past few seasons with their young core. With all the talent in the world, they just can’t seem to stay healthy, even Washington himself. In three out of four seasons in the NBA, Washington has missed at least 20 games each season. Star point guard and onetime all-star Lamelo Ball has been a Hornet who has missed extended periods of time due to injury. Ball would be held out for over half the season in 2023 due to an ankle injury.
Ball will be fully healthy at the start of this season and will look to come back right where he left off in his first few years in the NBA.
With the Hornets now fully healthy there is no telling what this team can do next season.
Can Ball and Washington push the Hornets back into the playoffs? Let us know in the comments down below.
