Peny Boone 2025 NFL Draft Profile

RJ Harvey is slowly becoming one of my favorites in this running back class. What about his backup, Peny Boone? What if UCF has two capable running backs in this draft? Let’s talk about everything you need to know about the other UCF running back in this edition of the 2025 NFL Draft profile series.

This is the thing about Peny Boone. We kinda saw exactly what we needed to see pan out. Boone was brought in as a transfer to finish out his career at UCF. Ditto for Myles Montgomery coming from Cincinnati. Boone was third on the last of carries behind those other two and Boone got plenty of chances to win that job. Harvey is the guy and there’s no question he’s a stud. The fact that he didn’t out rep Montgomery is really the concerning part here.

No Combine invite for Boone. He did, however, get invited to the Hulu Bowl if you watched that. Next to nobody ever gets drafted from the Hulu Bowl. One or two players may make a roster from that game historically.

I’ll say this though. I actually watched a fair amount of UCF this year. Less so when KJ Jefferson got benched (I have that profile here if you want to read it). I’m not sure how else to say it. We saw this play out on the field. RJ Harvey was the guy and nobody was remotely close to stealing carries from him. Boone never showed crazy explosion or really even a need to get him involved in the offense. He had one really good year at Toledo but the second he went to a better school it looked like he didn’t belong. Started his career at Maryland and never really cracked the rotation.

Boone gets an undrafted grade from me, which won’t be a surprise to anyone given that I haven’t even heard his name among the mainstream media. Not a priority for me either as one of the guys post draft.
