How bad of a manager do you have to be to be deemed as a worse alternative than Tony La Russa? The Chicago White Sox stink and manager Pedro Grifol is blaming himself. Credit to him for taking the blame, I guess?
Grifol says the White Sox suck because of him. Grifol is telling fans to blame him for the struggles in Chicago.
“I’m disappointed. This is on me. It’s simple,” Grifol said. “I sat there and I told everybody that we have high expectations here and I was going to lead us to where we want to go. And it’s not happening. I’m disappointed, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to quit, that I’m going to stop working.”
“There’s a ton of different components, and we’re addressing them all. All of them,” Grifol said. “There’s no stone unturned here, believe me, when it comes to us trying to get this thing right, trying to finish strong and move on to next season. There’s a style of baseball that we want to play. There’s a culture that we want to build. It hasn’t happened. And that’s on me.”
I don’t see a culture in Chicago. I see Tim Anderson being a bum and having the worst year of his career. I see Luis Robert dogging it to first. I see a team that stinks up the joint in a joke AL Central division where it should be easy to be competitive.
The White Sox sit 41-61 on the season thus far. Again, if you aren’t outperforming La Russa, maybe you got the wrong guy in charge in the dugout.
