I was quite surprised to see Brett Hundley declare early for the 2015 NFL Draft. After seeing freshman sensation Josh Rosen in 2016 for UCLA now we understand why Hundley left school early. Nevertheless Packers quarterback coach Alex Van Pelt believes Green Bay might have gotten a steal with their 5th round choice in 2015.
Via Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette:
The Packers are high on the potential of 2015 fifth-rounder Brett Hundley, with quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt saying confidently that Hundley could become “a solid starter” in the NFL some day.
Of course the Packers organization has done an excellent job of developing back up quarterbacks. Ty Detmer to Mark Brunell to Matt Hasselbeck to Aaron Brooks to Matt Flynn, this has become something a bit more than anomaly. Hundley is the clear cut back up quarterback at this point but the hope would obviously be to keep Aaron Rodgers healthy all season long.
