I’m fully aware the 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, but we still have a few players left over worth discussing. Oronde Gadsden II is one of them, and this profile I’m about to discuss is very interesting for a number of reasons. Stick around for why, and thank you for the click. Feel free to comment because this player is one of my favorites at the position.
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 9, East-West (1), (2), (3), (4), Game
Gadsden, 21, played at heralded American Heritage in Florida and was a three star recruit coming out of high school. During the 2021 cycle, he was ranked as the 184th overall receiver and 139th overall player in the state of Florida. Yes, this is very much the son of former Dolphins wide receiver Oronde Gadsden.
The first year with the Orange, Gadsden was a WR. He switched to TE in 2022 and immediately broke out. That season included a First-team All-ACC selection where he notched 61 receptions for 969 receiving yards and six touchdowns. The following season, his year was cut short due to a Lisfranc injury. In 2024, he finished strong again posting another First-team All-ACC recording 73 receptions for 934 yards and 7 TDs.
Had a pretty nice Combine minus the part where the blocking was shaky. He didn’t run, but the movement skills are there, and his gauntlet was one of the best at the position. He was also a huge standout at the East-West game. Easily the best tight end of the group at the East-West game.
Look, we’re talking about a receiving tight end option, if you haven’t figured that out by now. The Fort Lauderdale native checks in at 6-foot-5, 243, and is definitely lengthy. Just not thick and a reliable blocker. He’s going to be best used as a secondary tight end who can really be a factor in the red area. A total pass catching big slot option for any offense.
He’s not a superstar in the short area quickness game, but there’s no denying the guy has a huge catch radius with proven production. He’s going to be that guy who just becomes a QB’s best friend. When it’s your last resort, target this dude, and he might bail you out.
I’m a fan of Gadsden. Honestly, it’s hard not to love the strategy of turning the card in here late rather than overpaying for guys at the top of the draft who may or may not be in a similar tier. There is real pass catching upside here that’s more than worth the gamble in the middle rounds.
