Oops, I DID IT AGAIN! Carter Hart and I are besties again. The man who single handily tried to tank my eventual fantasy hockey winning season is getting another shot. If Brittney Spears can, then I can do it again. It’s time for Carter Hart to right the wrongs of the past and deliver on what he should be.
For those who don’t know, we have new cracked out rules for the goalies in fantasy hockey. Wins don’t really matter that much anymore. Neither do goals allowed. You want a goalie who is just going to get pelted with shots and is able to save most of them. Carter Hart enters the chat.
Last year, Hart wasn’t able to save most of them. It felt like he was saving 50% of the shots that he faced. Okay, it wasn’t quite that bad but Hart was awful. Regardless an .877 save percentage is as bad as it gets. The Flyers defense did Hart no favors but Hart was awful using whatever analytical stat you want to use.
This time around, Hart has massive potential despite coming off a bad year. Martin Jones is the back up so if he starts seeing significant action, that’s when I know it’s time to pull the plug. However, the Flyers made some changes to their defense bringing in Ryan Ellis, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Keith Yandle. Hopefully, that means Hart is still being pelted with shots but fewer high danger chances.
Nevertheless, Carter Hart and I are in this together. The new cracked out goalie rules has made it possible for Hart to find a new place in mine (Pun intended). Let’s do this. The run for title number two starts yesterday.
