It’s the year 2024 and people are still being arrested for DUI’s. You have to be a complete and utter idiot to be caught doing something that stupid. Except Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon found a way.
The Doak Walker Award winner a season ago apologized for being an idiot.
“I am deeply sorry for the actions that led to my arrest on June 30th,” Gordon wrote on social media. “I sincerely apologize to my family, everyone in our program, including our players, coach [Mike] Gundy, the staff, Oklahoma State University, and our fans. Regardless of the outcome of this pending investigation, I did not uphold the values I have for myself and the values of the OSU football program. I am committed to learning and growing from this mistake and I will work to earn back the trust of those who I have disappointed. Thank you.”
Gordon, 20, was arrested for swerving while doing 82 in a 65. He also registered a BAC of .11, which is slightly over the legal limit of .08. He also refused a field sobriety test once he was actually pulled over. As of now, it doesn’t look like there is any consequences being handed down but that could change.
The Fort Worth, Texas, native rushed for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns. Can he repeat that performance in 2024 and insert himself into being one of the top running backs in the draft? Driving drunk like an idiot certainly isn’t going to help his cause.
We also tragically lost Khyree Jackson too soon to an automobile accident. Hopefully, Gordon uses this as a learning lesson.
