O’Donnell Fortune 2025 NFL Draft Profile

When you start realizing how many South Carolina guys are in this draft, it sure feels more and more criminal that we didn’t get to see them in the playoff. O’Donnell Fortune was a hero in the Gamecocks’ secondary last year, and we’re going to talk about how he translates to the next level in this edition of the 2025 NFL Draft profile series!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 3, Week 7, Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, East-West (4), Game

Fortune, 23, was a three star safety coming out of high school. The redshirt senior was ranked as the 40th safety and ninth overall player in the state of South Carolina. The Sumter native spent all five years with the Gamecocks.

Just a two year starter, but Fortune has been a depth piece in this secondary for a long time. He’s got seven picks over the last three years, and the ones this past year were sexy. He picked off Jalen Milroe in the game against Bama, which almost turned the tide into a win. Every time I watched this team he was always finding ways to impact the ball in the air. The stock notes above have some of that if you’re looking for more.

Fortune is a long press corner checking in at 6-foot-1, 185, with nearly 32 inch arms. He’s not a world beater in short area, and the Combine showed that. Could be better in the bend department, but has some burst and just has a ball hawking knack in his game. Didn’t run at the Combine but the guy totally lit it up at the East-West.

The data backs this up too. He’s at under 65 opposing passer rating against in the SEC over the last two years. That’s while taking on big time matchups as the team’s top corner. Sorry, but if you don’t want this guy, I’ll take him.

I have a middle round grade on O’Donnell Fortune. If he was a tad more athletic, he would go way higher. I’ve been snagging him in all the mock draft simulators I do in the 7th where where he seems to be going off the board around that spot.
