Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport were first to report Friday.
According to ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques, the deal will be worth $3 million with the possibility of it rising to $8.25 million.
At the time of this publishing, we don’t know what the extra $5 million of incentives are.
Beckham last appeared with the Baltimore Ravens, where he played 14 games after being two seasons removed from helping the Rams win a Super Bowl in 2021. With Baltimore, he hauled in 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns.
The 5-foot-11 target has made three Pro Bowls and was the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year after tallying 91 catches for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. For his career, Beckham, 31, has caught 566 yards for 7,932 yards and 59 touchdowns.
Beckham will now be the tertiary target to arguably the NFL’s best receiver duo in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle paired with an offensive genius in Mike McDaniel. If you’re looking to be maximized, Miami isn’t currently the worst spot to go to.
While Beckham can’t play offensive line–the Dolphins’ biggest need (by far)–he showed he has some juice left in the tank, even though he’s far from the player he was in New York and, to some extent, Cleveland. This will also allow rookie wideout Malik Washington to have some developmental reps within McDaniel’s complex offense.
