It’s no secret by now that Rick Tocchet has decided to leave Vancouver. In case you missed it, this was Tocchet’s statement on the decision.
“I’m choosing to move on from the Vancouver Canucks,” he said in a press release issued by the team. “Family is a priority, and with my contract lapsing, this becomes the opportune time. While I don’t know where I’m headed, or exactly how this will play out for me over the near term, I feel like this is the right time for me to explore other opportunities in and around hockey.”
However, this is the part that I really want to talk about. Can anybody actually blame him?
I’m going to have a follow up blog on this from a different angle, but when it comes to Tocchet, let’s be real about it. This guy deserves better than this trash bag organization.
Whether it be the unnecessary drama with JT Miller that forced him out or the organization disrespecting Brock Boeser, this team has proven over and over again that they act like children, and it starts at the top.
Again, let’s have an honest conversation about this. If you were coaching this team, would you want to put up with this cheese?
If you’re questioning it, watch this clip, and I promise you that we will all come to the same conclusion on this.
Tocchet did all he could for that team, and now it’s time to seek greener pastures. We’ll see what’s next for him, but all I know is anything is better than the mess in Vancouver.
