The number one quarterback in the class of 2024 Dylan Raiola has officially committed to the University of Nebraska after de-committing from Georgia, ESPN College Football insider Pete Thamel was first to report Monday.
Raiola has been in the heat of commitment ever since he entered into stardom in high school. The Buford (Ga.) High quarterback originally announced his verbal commitment to his hometown school, the Georgia Bulldogs, but changed his mind after months of thinking.
Raiola is marked as the number one rated quarterback in the class of 2024 by 247Sports and the second-highest ranked player in the class as well.
“I know they want to win right now,” Raiola said in the past, according to 247sports.com. “Just from Coach Rhule being the head coach he wants to do it the right way. He’s not going to cut corners. He’s going to build it from the ground up. I have a great relationship with him and I feel comfortable talking to him about things.
“Being able to sit down with Coach (Matt) Rhule and really understand his vision for that program and where he’s headed with that program, and he’s proven it at Temple and Baylor and he’s going to win at Nebraska as well.”
Although Raiola has hometown ties to the back-to-back national champions, he has an even closer tie to the Cornhuskers. His father, Dominic, became a standout center for Nebraska in college. Winning the Rimington Award his senior season–the award given to the nation’s top center.
Now, Raiola is paving a new path behind his father’s alma mater and Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule.
Raiola will instantly be regarded as the starting quarterback for the Cornhuskers next season, as the team struggled to find a true identity at quarterback this season.
