NJPW is one of the most historic and longest-running major professional wrestling companies in the world. There have been countless legends who have wrestled in the company over the years. NJPW was started in 1972 by Antonio Inoki. Sadly, Antonio Inoki passed away a little over a week ago. New Japan Pro Wrestling is trying to bring the company more success, not only in Japan but all over the world. Well today, the company unveiled its newest championship.
New Japan Pro Wrestling revealed that the newest championship is going to be called the NJPW TV Championship. This title is going to focus on younger stars in more fast-paced matches. Furthermore, every match will have a fifteen-minute time limit. This adds an interesting element to the matches; also, it ensures they will be filled with non-stop action. The NJPW TV title will be the eleventh active title in the company. But this is like no other title before. Now, it’s hard to come up with original ideas for championships, but I think they have one with this title.
There will be a tournament to crown the inaugural champion. It will begin this weekend and the finals will take place at Wrestle Kingdom 17. Also, NJPW announced that Wrestle Kingdom 17 will be in honor of Antonio Inoki. The event is scheduled to take place on January 4th, 2023. So that is when the first champion will be crowned.
NJPW is a legendary professional wrestling company. So it’s good to see them constantly make changes and evolve as the years go on. Furthermore, you and your parent’s favorite wrestlers have likely competed in the company over the years. So it’s no shock that they have stuck around and found a lot of success.
