Nick Bosa says Vikings are better than Jets after Week 1 win

To open their 2024 season, the San Francisco 49ers downed Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets, 32-19, without arguably their best player in running back Christian McCaffrey.

Ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, 49ers defensive Nick Bosa threw shade at his former foe this week.

“This week I think we’re playing a better team,” Bosa said earlier this week. “They’re playing better football it looks like. They run the ball well and we’re gonna have to do better in our techniques. We kind of got away with some things last week. So, we have to hone in and not pat ourselves on the back.”

Minnesota, expected to be the worst team in a rock-solid NFC North this season, completely boatraced the New York Giants in their opener, 28-6. It was so bad that they sympathized for Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, who struggled mightily and received a rain of boos from the Giant faithful.

Minnesota’s better coached than New York, and the talent discrepancy isn’t that far off, one way or another. Both teams have top-end receivers with improved offensive lines, though New York has the much sturdier defense (on paper).

The Jets were expected to challenge the Bills for the AFC East, and they still can, but it will still be an uphill climb in Rodgers’ first fully healthy season with New York. Minnesota still isn’t expected to compete for an NFC North title, but I wouldn’t rule out sneaking into a wild card, especially if they pull off an upset or two over the next few weeks.

Sunday’s game against the Vikings will also be in U.S. Bank Stadium, which is never an easy trek. They went just 2-6 at home in 2023, but of their six losses, five came by one possession. Who knows whether or not Sunday will be different against his former team, but Sam Darnold, in his first start with Minnesota, looked uber-comfortable.
