According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the New York Jets are reportedly looking at all options for wide receiver Mecole Hardman, including a potential trade.
Hardman, who signed a one-year, $4 million contract after leaving the Kansas City Chiefs this past offseason, hasn’t made much of a splash in the Meadowlands.
The 25-year-old still has plenty left in the tank, but the injury bug has plagued him a lot recently. In 2022, Hardman missed nine regular-season games and the Chiefs’ divisional-round playoff due to a pelvic injury.
Through four games, the speedy receiver has hauled in one catch for six yards. He has played just 24 snaps to begin the season and was inactive in the Jets’ Sunday matchup against the Denver Broncos.
The former Georgia product has always been a really solid No. 2 or 3 receiver. He even earned a Pro Bowl nod his rookie year, recording 538 yards and six touchdowns, in addition to 704 kickoff return yards to go along with one score that season.
The Carolina Panthers have been reportedly looking frantically for a receiver after giving away D.J. Moore to the Chicago Bears, so that could potentially be a landing spot for Hardman. Another spot could be in New England; Mac Jones and the Patriots have looked awful this year, and it’s clear that they are the slowest team in the NFL.
Wherever Hardman ends up, hopefully he can stay healthy and bring more value unlike what’s happening with the Jets.
Hardman has 152 receptions, 2,094 yards and 16 touchdowns throughout his career, along with two championships and a second-team All-Pro nod.
