New York Giants Hire Joe Schoen As New General Manager

The New York Giants have found their new general manager, they’re hiring Joe Schoen, per Ian Rapoport. He was the assistant general manager of the Buffalo Bills from 2017 until now. The hope is he can turn around the New York Giants, the coaching search continues.

Schoen spent time with the Buffalo Bills as their assistant general manager from 2017 until now. He was there when the Bills spent a first-round draft pick to select Josh Allen, who has since developed into a great player. Other notable players who were drafted during his time with the Buffalo Bills are Matt Milano, Tre’Davious White, Dion Dawkins, and Wyatt Teller. He was also in the building when the Buffalo Bills traded for wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings. For Giants fans, there is optimism that Schoen either played an active role in these draft picks and trades or at the very least that he learned from Brandon Beane and the processes involved in these evaluations and actions.

During Schoen’s time as a scout with the Panthers and Dolphins, he was part of the teams that drafted Mike Pouncey (three-time Pro Bowler), Jonathan Stewart (holder of 13 Panthers team rushing records, and one Pro-Bowl). He’s seen what it takes to draft and acquire quality players.

The Giants are still on the hunt for a new head coach, however, they have their new general manager. Time will only tell how this move works out.
