Tyler, The Creator has done it once again this New Music Friday by bringing some amazing songs in the deluxe version of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST. The deluxe title, The Estate Sale, has a total of seven songs and an intro audio.
With it are the previously released singles “Dogtooth” and “Sorry Not Sorry.” Both have gained a lot of media attention with “Dogtooth” gaining popularity from being regarded as a “munch anthem.” Meanwhile, the ladder is being praised for its amazing storytelling and implementation of Tyler’s personalities throughout his career.
Along with those are songs such as “Stuntman” with Vince Staples and “Wharf Talk” with A$AP Rocky. If you were a fan of the original album this needs to be your first listen this Friday, very much worth it.
“Softest Touch” is very radio friendly. To be fair, it is a very catchy song, and the harmonization is top notch when the chorus kicks in. Not only that, but Khalid brings an overall amazing performance with his vocals, however, it is just too basic for my liking. Not a bad song at all and totally get the appeal.
I just never get tired of hearing Daniel Caesar singing on New Music Friday’s and that hasn’t changed as of now. With his newest single “Valentina” the artist is gearing up for his newest album, Never Enough, to be released next Friday on April 7.
Talk about a song that’s a Drake knockoff and this will be mentioned. The hit song “Rich Flex” off of Drake’s most recent album, Her Loss, is heavily, and I truly mean heavily, influencing Quavo’s newest song “Honey Bun.” In specific, it is the phrase and flow of “21 can you do something for me” which Quavo changed into “Honey Bun can you do something for me.”
Even then, this song also references his mindset and ideals after the passing of his nephew Takeoff.
Another sad song from the artist; he’s not straying from what works with him. It’s touching, catchy, and a nice listen this Friday.
Off of first impressions of this album, it sounds like something Benny The Butcher would release due to the similarities in rap style and flow. And before I come off like I am trying to slander Benny or Larry, on the surface level its pretty much the same.
However, this music style is not my kind of music. I get the appeal of it though especially since it is assisting in me writing this article by acting as my background music. It is very relaxing and although I originally thought of it as boring, it definitely has a specific time and place that it can thrive. Specifically, as of right now.
I saw a lot of people excited for the new Autumn! album and to say the least I was very disappointed. Golden Child, Chapter 3 is packed with 24 songs and almost every single one sounds the exact same. It was very hard to finish the album to the point where I gave up at the 15 song mark. I would not get your hopes up for this album when there is more to offer this New Music Friday.
