I just wrote my post on why I believe the Boston Celtics will win the NBA Championship during the 2023-24 NBA Season. One thing that I didn’t spend enough time on was on the front court depth. What happens if and when Kristaps Porzingis misses time? Do the Celtics have enough bodies in that department? Neemias Queta might be a name that fans should start paying attention to.
Porzingis is going to be a game changer for this Celtics team but it’s fair to question the depth behind him. Especially with Al Horford aging in dog years. The only other front court player on the active roster is Luke Kornet who is really only known by his weird shot contest technique. I’m not sure Kornet is a real player that you can trust with extended minutes.
Queta, 24, reigns from Portugal and was a former second round pick by the Kings in the 2021 NBA Draft. The 7-footer played his collegiate ball at Utah State and was productive there. Queta notched 219 blocks in college and shot .594%. Queta isn’t untalented or he wouldn’t have been taken with the 39th overall pick.
I know it’s only preseason but so far so good. He’s been a one man wrecking crew since rocking Celtics Green.
Just keep the name in mind. Queta is currently on a two-way contract but could be promoted to the active roster midseason. If an injury occurs to the front court or if Kornet stinks it up, you’re going to see some Queta.
