Nationals Send Max Scherzer And Trea Turner To LA In Blockbuster Deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers pull off the biggest deal of the 2021 trade deadline. Star pitcher Max Scherzer and talented shortstop Trea Turner are traded to the Dodgers. This is in exchange for top catching prospect Keibert Ruiz, pitcher Josiah Gray, pitcher Gerardo Carrillo, and Donovan Casey.

37-year-old Max Scherzer is testing father time with an astounding 2.83 earned run average with 142 strikeouts in 105 innings pitched. Scherzer is a three-time Cy Young award winner on top of leading the league in wins four times and three times in strikeouts. Mad Max is a force to be reckoned with.

Trea Turner is perhaps the most sought-after underrated shortstop who can also fill in at center field if need be. He combines speed and power while also being a .300 career hitter. He is a very exciting player to watch.

Adding Scherzer and Turner pushes LA further into serious contention for back-to-back World Series championships. The Dodgers have done well given the fact that they’ve had half their rotation go down with injuries and other unfortunate occurrences, including losing Trevor Bauer. Scherzer fills that void quite well.

Trea Turner will give LA breathing room come offseason when Corey Seager becomes a free agent. Turner still has a few more years until he’s a free agent.

Keibert Ruiz has become one of the top catchers in the minors slashing an astounding .311/.381/.631 with AAA Oklahoma City. Josiah Gray hasn’t been a slouch either, establishing a career 2.41 ERA in the minors so far in his career.

Dodgers are willing to go all out in order to repeat. President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman knows what he’s doing and will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
